– Make sure your long yarn tail is on the right side of the flower, and next make 7 small petals with beads in the center of the flower, and attach them ‘on the sc-rounds’ : I prefer beading 5 small beads on my orange thread and next make a small sewing stitch in a sc of the sc-round. Repeat this 7 times, forming 7 small detailed petals. Next finish the flower heart : make 3 larger petals in the 7-petal circle : by beading 7 small beads each time and sew carefully.
– Weave in all ends.
– Optional : cut a small felt circle and sew it on the back of your flower.
– Sew the brooch pin on to the felt circle / or the flower itself.

Merino Shawl-kit GIVE AWAY

(Eng text in italic)

Vandaag vieren we feest  !

Today we are celebrating, we are having a party ! I am working on a new pattern, a lovely merino-shawl. The design itself is already finished, and I am almost ready with the pattern writing and the testing. This lovely shawl design will be released next week.

And November 30th is a special day in our family : it is our wedding day 🙂 We like to celebrate this special day every year, and this time, I am also celebrating with you !

I told Scheepjes about my new shawl design made with their great MerinoSoft yarn. And when they found out I did not have 1, but 2 reasons to celebrate : the release of this new pattern AND my wedding anniversary, they offered a full yarn kit to make this shawl !

An incredible present. So, what can you win ? The shawl kit contains : 8 balls of Scheepjes MerinoSoft, 6 balls shade Lautrec and 2 balls shade Michelangelo, a Knitpro crochet hook 5 mm and the pattern of course.

With this complete kit you can make yourself a shawl like shown on the pictures.

The shawl I made is very soft, and warm, great for those colder autumn and winter days. Merinowool is known for this softness, and the high quality of the natural wool fibre, and it has some natural stretch in it as well. Scheepjes MerinoSoft is available in a large colour palette, so  this means you can make so much lovely colour combinations !

This shawl is a topdown design, this means you start at the center, and by making increases both at the sides and in the middle, your shawl will grow and get bigger row after row. This is a wonderful experience, and the advantage is you can choose your own size shawl. You can make it as large as you want ! The refined stitch pattern has a great natural relief in it as well, adding an extra accent to this design.

The pattern is fully written, and charts are added as well, and my testing panel has done a great job by testing the design.

The pattern will be available for individual sale next week, on Monday December 7th.

New crochet pattern : Almejas Shawl

Today I am releasing a new shawl pattern : this Almejas Shawl. It is a special shawl, because the body of it is formed by little excentric clams : Almejas is the Spanish word for clams. Beautifull small, solid and strong shells, that are very tender and delicate at the same time as well.

The shawl itself is worked topdown, you start at the center and by making increases both in the center and at the sides, your shawl will grow and get bigger, row after row.

I worked the body with Malabrigo Sock yarn, shade Solis. It is a lovely strong sock yarn, it is great to work with, and the shades are fantastic.

I decided the edging needed a lot of contrast, so I used Malabrigo Silkpaca, a delicate and  tender laceweight yarn, in shade Azul Profundo. Both the difference in yarn weight and the different shades (the aqua shades for the body and the dark intense blue for the edging) make this shawl a real eyecatcher.

This design was published several months ago in Inside Crochet as well. So many thanks to them for these wonderfull stunning pictures.

The pattern itself is fully written, in US terms.

I have added 2 charts as well.

Ester from It’s All in A Nutshell has made some a great instruction video about the used clam stitch. (so not about the shawl pattern itself, she explains the lovely shell stitch). The video can be found here : Almejas crochet stitch. She also made a stunning shawl herself, you can read about here on her blog : Esther’s Almejas Shawl

The pattern is available through my pattern store : Almejas Shawl and on Ravelry : Almejas Shawl and on Etsy : Almejas Shawl .

A mohair mission and an amour-brooch

Today I have decided that we all need a mohair mission !

Myself, I am a big mohair fan : mainly because mohair is incredibly soft, very comfortable, warm, and light as a cloud.

Scheepjes have just released a brand new yarn :  Mohair Rhythm yarn. It is available in 20 lovely shades, eachnamed after a dance, absolutely original !

I was truly lucky to have received some sample balls, and I just needed to start making some nice little projects, IMMEDIATELY !

But, I discovered lots of people seem to have a huge resistance to using mohair. It seems to me that they are a little afraid of this amazing yarn 🙂  And when I ask people why, I get answers like : it makes you sweat, it itches, it’s hairy, you can’t frog it when you make a mistake, it’s expensive, ….

To be honest, I personally do not share these opinions.

Therefore, I have decided to start a mohair-mission. I think it is of major importance that people learn what an amazing yarn mohair truly is, so the mohair-fear can disappear, and it will be used much more often to make nice projects and designs !

I would love to see  people appreciating, and being enthusiastic about mohair.

So I will start with giving you some info concerning the contra-arguments people have been telling me :

  • mohair is sweaty : that is possible, yes. But not all mohair yarns are sweaty. I know a lot of mohair yarns that mainly consist of synthetic materials, and just a tiny percentage of REAL mohair. The higher the percentage of synthetic materials in a yarn, the more chance it will be sweaty, because it breathes less. So now for the good part  : Scheepjes Mohair Rhythm has 70 % true mohair in it. This actually means : no sweating, no itching, because the yarn is very natural and pure.
  • mohair is itchy : Again, the same news : yes, some mohair yarns are itchy : mainly when they have a high percentage of synthetic fibres in it. Scheepjes mohair is VERY pure , so there is no itching, no irritation, no other nasty annoying things. It is actually very soft, tender and fluffy.
  • mohair sheds : After you wash your handmade item for the first time, a good mohair yarn will no longer shed. (I am sharing a bit of a little secret here : of course I have tested this with the Scheepjes mohair. I crocheted a cardigan very quickly and franticly, washed it, and have been wearing it for days now, and it has NOT shed at all).
  • it is impossible to frog mohair : this is a hard one, I admit. Of course, I can only say it is best NOT to make too many mistakes 🙂  But sometimes it goes wrong. The good news is : yes, you can frog Scheepjes mohair. It is not always very simple or easy, but with a few little handy tricks and some patience, it can be done. I promise to make a video very soon , on how to frog mohair ! (yep, indeed, I am committing myself to make my very first crochet video ever 🙂 )
  • mohair is expensive : what can I say ? What is expensive for one person, is not expensive for someone else. So this is a hard question. A lovely ball of Scheepjes Mohair costs € 5,50. You will get a royal ball of 200 m of yarn. That is A LOT of yarn in 1 ball. You actually buy a ball of pure quality, pure pureness, a ball of happiness and pleasure. Those things are priceless no ? So for me, these little generous balls of fluffiness are not expensive at all !

11222363_488047804706800_6732960438096846295_n 12219426_1172812452747419_5635797479825992599_n

I will as well share some more mohair advantages with you  :

  • Scheepjes Mohair is light, actually light as a feather, or a cloud ! That is one big advantage, if you like making larger projects (like I do) : sweaters, cardigans, large shawls. No more heavy garments, but really light cardigans or sweaters.
  • It is soft and warm : it will keep you comfortable and warm, mainly because it has such a high percentage of true wool in it. Wool regulates the human body temperature. This means actually it adapts itself to the person wearing it : if you need some extra warmth, it will provide you that little extra. If you are a ‘warm person’, it will allow you to keep your own warmth and provide you comfort. Wool has such amazing advantages and powers, that even the medical world will not deny it : people suffering from muscle problems, arthritis, … often get the advise from doctors to wear woollen clothes. Because it is so good for all of us.
  • Wool does not require frequent washing : wool itself is self-cleaing, which means you do not have to wash it very often. As mohair is wool, so that makes laundry easy 🙂  Maybe you noticed yourself already, that your woolen cardigans and scarfs do not need frequent washing, like other garments. This is truly nature at its best.
  • The colours : Let’s admit it, let’s be honest. Mohair always had a kind of ‘old-fashioned’ image. It was available in those basic colours, like beige, grey, or sometimes the very dark colours. But if you like the fancy vivid and rich colours, like I do, it was almost impossible to use mohair. Now, fantastic news : Scheepjes Mohair Rhythm is available in 20 rich, vivid and bright colours, and also has some pastels and neutral tones as well. Simply said : there is colour of a Mohair Rhythm for all of us.
  • the easy-start label : all Mohair Rhythm balls have this wonderful amazing label. No more fussy situations : no more frustration when crocheting (and having to almost ‘throw’ your ball in the air not to loose too much time and having to get some extra yarn to use). No, just easy-going and relaxing crocheting straight from the center of the ball.
  • The strength of mohair : although mohair has a tender and fragile appearance, it is STRONG ! And it holds its shape very well.
  • Mohair is a wonderful yarn to combine : it is so multi-functional : use it ‘single threaded’ to make delicate designs, or take 2, 3 or even more strands together for a more fluffy and warm effect. Why not combine it with other yarns, to achieve special fashionable effects ? Play with your crochet hook size as well : use a rather small hook size for a dense look, or if you prefer a more openworked effect, go up several hook sizes.

You see, mohair is absolutely worth trying it 🙂

Hopefully I already convinced you with my mission-text.

And let’s not forget I designed some lovely brooches : a small, easy and original little project, that makes a great Christmas gift, or a special treat for yourself.

With only 1 ball of Scheepjes Mohair Rhythm you can make one of these brooches. So no excuse not to try it, isn’t it ? Probably you will become a huge mohair-fan, just like me, once your brooch is ready !

I have made 2 brooches : 1 vintage inspired brooch (the one I already showed you last week), and one ‘Amour-brooch’, in shades of pink and orange. (yep, I have decided to call it ‘Amour-brooch’, since my dear husband and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary soon, and I will wear this brooch, together with a lovely dress, I bought especially for  this occasion).

I am writing down the FREE pattern as we speak, and I will post it next week.

And… there is more to come soon :

  • some helpful examples of mohair samples crocheted with small and larger hook sizes.
  • an informative video on how to easily frog mohair
  • some interesting examples of mohair yarns combined with other yarns
  • information on how you can use mohair to make lovely garments
  • …..

If you already want to be prepared for next week’s free pattern, I am happy to tell you what you will need :

  • 1 ball Scheepjes Mohair Rhythm (if you want to make a multi-coloured brooch, you will of course need different colours)
  • a crochet hook 5 mm (yes, the yarn label says 2,5 mm, but for this project we will be using a 5mm hook size)
  • a tapestry needle to weave in all ends
  • a pair of scissors
  • some small seed beads
  • a brooch pin
  • optional : a small round or square piece of felt

You can buy this amazing yarn at Deramores, they ship worldwide with excellent service. You can take a look at all the available shades here : Scheepjes Mohair Rhythm

A new design : Show-me-the-way cowl

Do you like cowls ? I do, without any doubt. Even more, I am a huge fan of cowls : I wear them all the time when I am outside : riding on my bike, taking a walk, … They are snuggly and warm, and really comfortable.

And because I like vivid colours and a few catchy accents too, I decided to make this ‘Show-me-the-way’ cowl design.

A cowl with a message 🙂

Autumn is a special time for a lot of people : it is a time filled with introspection, looking and searching, listening to what you heart tells you. Who are you ? What do you like ? What needs to be changed to improve the quality of your life ? Is the path you are following still the right one ? What choices do you need to make ?

And very often, if you can find the courage to listen very carefully, or to look around you with an openminded ‘look’, you can SEE which way you need to go. Your path will be visible.

Actually, this cowl design, is about finding your direction, or maybe you just have to refind it (because it is very obvious, but you just need a bit of a little reminder 🙂 ) , and some of you will just follow the path they are already going.

I added some crocheted cords at both sides and in the center part of the cowl, these cords ‘show you the way’. (they are optional, so you can also make the cowl without them).

I used a supersoft merino yarn : Scheepjes MerinoSoft. I like the softness and the luxurious feeling of merino wool a lot !

6 balls of the main colour, and 3 balls of the second shade. I choose light grey (Michelangelo-grey) and magenta (Carney).

I worked with 2 strands together and hook size 8mm, so extra warmth and a fast satisfying project guaranteed…

And like for all my crochet patterns : the pattern comes fully written, with a chart added as well. My testing panel has done a great job as well, by testing the instructions before publication.

Pattern : show-me-the-way cowl : Ravelry and webshop

Yarn : Scheepjes MerinoSoft  (50 % merinowol, 25 % acryl en 25 % micro)

Crochet hook : 8 mm

Free crochet pattern : Flipflops

I am excited to share my FREE crochet pattern for trendy flipflops with you !

Make yourself a pair of trendy summer flipflops, with some Scheepjes Linen Soft leftovers, the yarn you used for the Scheepjes CAL 2015 Flight of Fancy.

– Yarn : Scheepjes Linen Soft, some leftovers in your favourite shades. (shade A, shade B, and a bit more yarn for main shade C)

– Crochet hook : The upper side of the flipflop (the triangle) is made with hook size 3,5 mm and the cord with hook size 3mm.

– Used stitches : chain (ch), slipstitch (slst), slipstitch in back loops, single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), work double crochet stitches together (dctog), chain-space (ch-sp). I use US crochet terms.

– What else do you need ? Flipflop soles in your own size, tapestry needle to weave in ends, scissors.

(You can get flipflop soles at Deramores : they ship worldwide, you can find them here : flipflop soles.

– Info :

– both slippers are identical. (the patterns I mean, not the soles J )
– First you make the triangle, which is attached to the front of the flipflop.
– Next make the cord, and attach it ‘to’ the triangle.
– Attach both sides of the cords on the sides of the flipflops.

– Round 1 : With crochet hook 3,5 mm : Right side, With shade A, make a magic ring and work in the ring : 2ch+2dctog, 5ch, * 3dctog, 5ch, repeat from * once more, and close round with slst in first group of dctog. Already close round with shade B, and do not cut yarn A, just leave it on the back of your work. Do not turn.

– Round 2 : Right side, with yarn B, * work in dctog : 1sc+3ch+1sc, work in 2ch-sp : 5sc, repeat from * another 2 times and close round with sls in first sc, cut yarn B, do not turn.

– Round 3 : Right side, with yarn A : take yarn A again and work in first 3ch-space : 1slst, 3ch, 2dc +3ch +3dc, 2ch, work in 3rd sc (of 5sc) : 1sc, 2ch, * in next 3ch-sp : 3sdc+3ch+3dc, 2ch, in 3rd sc : 1sc, 2ch, repeat from * once more, close round with slst in 3rd ch, cut yarn and cast off.

– Round 4 : With shade C, right side : cast on with 1slst in any 3ch-sp, work here as well : 1ch+2sc, now work on 1 side of the triangle : 1sc in every stitch OR ch until next 3ch-sp. Work in this 3ch-sp : 2sc. Now attach triangle to the front of flipflop sole by working 1slst in front of sole. Work tightly. Continue by working in same 3ch-sp of triangle : 2sc. Now work over 2nd side of triangle : 1sc in every stitch OR ch until next 3ch-sp. (This means you now have worked over 2 sides of the triangle). Work in this 3ch-sp : 2sc+1ch+2sc. Next work over 3rd side of triangle also 1sc in every stitch or ch and end in the last 3ch-sp (where you started), work in this ch-space : 2 extra sc and close round with slst in 1ch. TURN.

– Row 5 : Front flap for the flipflop made in shade C : after round 4, you have turned. Now work 1ch and 1 row of sc over third side of triangle, making the first and the last stitch in the 1ch-space ! : you now have 17sc, turn.

– Row 6 : 1ch, 1sc in 17sc, turn.

– Row 7-10 : Repeat row 6. At the end of row 10 (right side of your work), cut yarn, leaving a 30cm (12in) tail.

– Cord : Work the cord with main shade C and crochet hook 3mm. Leave a 20cm (8in) tail (used to attach cord later) and : chain 5, close round with with slst in first ch, now make a tube by working slst in back loops of previous stitch. (we have used this same method to make the bracelets. This is another one of my free crochet patterns. Esther from ‘It’s all in a Nutshell’ has made a wonderfull video about how to crochet tubes, you can find the link here : video.

For my feet, the cord was about 16cm (6,4 in) long. Try out what length you need for your food size. When your cord is long enough, cut yarn, leaving a 30cm (12 in) tail.

– Next fold the extra crocheted rows (made whith yarn C) to the inside, and put the cord in it . Take your tapestry needle and sew row 10 on to row 4, stitch by stitch, making sure not to sew into the cord.

Bracelets : free crochet pattern at the end of the Scheepjes CAL 2015 Flight of Fancy

Yesterday we released the last part of the   Scheepjes CAL 2015 Flight of Fancy shawl.

A wonderfull crochet adventure, that lasted for 11 weeks, and I am sure it will be continued for a lot of people, including myself. All patterns will remain available online for free.

We have been making our CAL shawls with Scheepjes Linen Soft, a wonderfull natural yarn, made of linen, cotton and acrylic.

To use up some of the leftovers, I designed a bracelet pattern.

I am happy to share the free pattern with you.

These bracelets are very trendy, so choose your own preferred style : make them in neutral shades like beige, grey or white, or maybe you prefer the more colourfull ones in lilac, purple, teal or green ?

Esther Dijkstra from ‘It’s all in a Nutshell’ made a wonderfull video on how to crochet these bracelets. Watch the video after reading the pattern, because it explains really well how to crochet the tube. (you can find the link below, in the pattern)

– Yarn : Scheepjes Linen Soft, some leftovers, in shades you like.
– Crochet hook : 2,5 mm or 3 mm. A small hook is used !
– Used stitches : chain (ch), slipstitch in BACK LOOPS (slst). US and UK crochet terms.
– You also need : scissors, tapestry needle to weave in ends, superglue, and bracelets closures (from Gütermann).

– Crochet tightly !
– Chain 5, make a round and close round with 1slst in first ch.
– Next continue working in rounds, without closing or turning : work 1slst in next 4ch : 5slst (count the first slst to close the circle as well).
– From now on work slst in the back loops of the previous slst : always work in continuous rounds. You will notice a little dense tube is formed.
– Continue until your tube is about 16-17 cm (6,5 in). This is of course an average size. If necessary, make your tube shorter or longer, to achieve your preferred size.
– Cut yarn and cast off.
– Now glue each end of the bracelet into the closure/clasp.
– Allow to dry. Ready !

7 balls of main colour 172, and I also used 24 extra different shades : 256, 384, 100, 212, 251, 201, 253, 386, 226, 401, 282, 392, 397, 252, 389, 246, 261, 128, 399, 205, 398, 391, 385 and 114 (you will need about 5-7 gr of each colour).

 – Crochet hook : 3 mm (or any other hook size to obtain correct gauge).

– Used stitches : chain (ch), slipstitch (slst), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), treble crochet (tr), deep single crochet (dsc), shell (S). US crochet terms.

Deep single crochet : the dsc is always worked in the main colour. Work 1sc, making sure not to insert your hook in the coloured sc of the previous round, but in the 1ch-space of the round below. (you actually insert your hook 2 rounds lower, in the round also made in the main colour).

Shell (S) : 7 tr in 1 stitch

– Gauge : 20 sc x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm or 4 in

– You also need : tapestry needle to weave in ends, scissors, mat and pins for blocking, ruler.

 – Crochet chart and pictures : there is a small chart added, for the used stitch pattern. And I also added a lot of pictures too. (I am a leftie, you will notice it on the pictures).

Pattern :

– first you make the bottom of the bag, in the main colour.

– the upper side of the bag/ body is worked immediately on to the bottom part.

– The body of the bag : work 1 coloured round in shell stitch pattern, followed by 1 round of sc in the main colour. Do not turn after the coloured round. You only turn after each sc round.

– After each coloured shell round : cut yarn.

– Do NOT cut the main colour yarn. Just leave it at the wrong side of your work, when it is not used.

– Sew the beginning part and the end part of the handles on to bag with small sewing stitches. Start on the inside of the bag, and afterwards, sew the outher side.

– Weave in all ends.

– Now ‘pull’ the bag cover over the juten bag. Make sure the bottom part fits nicely. Next fold the bag cover back again, so you can easily sew the bottom of the bag cover to the bag itself. Sew with little invisible stitches, and carefully stretch the crocheted bottom so everything fits nicely.

– Pull the bag cover upwards again, and carefully sew the upper side to the bag, with small stitches.

– Weave in the last ends and ready !

– Enjoy your lovely bag J

Wonderfull Scheepjes CAL 2015 Flight of Fancy meet at : Selden Sa

On Friday June 26 I was at Selden Sa in Franeker, The Netherlands. I was invited there for a  Scheepjes CAL 2015 Flight of Fancy meet. I had to leave very early in the morning for a long drive (because I live in Antwerp myself). The ride itself was good, it was busy on the roads, but everything went great. If you ever travel to Franeker, you have to go acrross water, lots of water 🙂  It was wonderfull. It was even breathtaking, I enjoyed it so much. (so I decided I will come back here for sure, for a nice holiday with my family).

When arriving at the shop, Nynke (the shop owner) and her colleague Anja were very happy to see me, so they gave me a warm welcome : they offered me a lovely lunch, and we got the time to get to know each other.

Soon the ladies for the meet and the mini-workshop arrived. And before we knew it, the shop was full of enthusiastic women 🙂 We all sat at the tables and enjoyed  crocheting time, the talkes about handcraft and yarns,  the coffee and tea and the pastries.

It was a very ‘productive’ meet, we noticed it very early already : a lot of concentration amongst the ladies, they were all crocheting almost in silence, and making the most wonderfull little birdies. We all had a lovely time. It felt like I was charged with lots of extra energy !

I enjoyed it so much, I even forgot to take enough pictures. So I am happy Nynke was so kind to email me the pictures she made during the afternoon.

I had Sophie’s Universe with me : that super-fantastic blanket made by crochet designer  Dedri Uys (from the well know blog : LookAtWhatIMade) : so we gave her a well choosen and nice spot in the shop. All the ladies that attended the meet (and also lots of other customers in the shop) really enjoyed that wonderfull masterpiece ! Thank you so much Dedri, for letting Sophie travel with me.

scheepjes 2015 CAL flight of fancy meet annelies

After the workshop we talked some more, and said goodbye, and I decided to go to my hotel. (I booked a nice hotel by the waterside instead of driving home again). But when I started listening to my missing phonecalls and messages on my mobile, I knew my little son was quite ill. So, although he was in the safe hands of my husband, it just did not feel right to stay at the hotel, and I decided to drive home anyway. The little one is feeling ok again. And as for myself ? I had a wonderfull time !

How was your weekend ?

Free crochet pattern : It’s a Sunny Day Shawl

I am very happy to share the free crochet pattern of my new shawl design : It’s a Sunny Day Shawl. I used Scheepjes Softfun and Softfun Denim for this design: the yarn is very fluffy, refreshing cold in the summer, and warm and cuddly on colder days or evenings. It is available in lots of wonderfull colours, so it was hard to choose 🙂  It is a perfect cotton-acrylic blend, soft, and with some natural stretch in it, and it is very easy washable in the washing machine. I loved worked with this yarn.

You can purchase the yarn for this shawl at the international retailers :

Deramores : Scheepjes Softfun    and  Scheepjes Softfun Denim

Woolwarehouse : Scheepjes Softfun and Scheepjes Softfun Denim ,

Paradisefibers

For The Netherlands and Belgium, you can find an overview of all the shops here : shops

(affiliate links)

it's a sunny day shawl

Info

– Crochet pattern for a large triangular shawl. The entire shawl is worked topdown, this means you start at the center, and your shawl gets wider and wider, by making increases at the sides and in the center.
The size is very easily adjustable.
The body of the shawl is worked with crème, and the stitch pattern is easy to memorise.
The large edging is divided in 2 parts (sizes are also easy adjustable) : the first part has large repetitive shells and the second part lots of small ch-spaces.
By using several different colours the result will be wonderfull.

– Yarn : Scheepjeswol Softfun and Softfun denim / 60% cotton, 40% acrylic, 1 skein = 50gr = 140m / dk weight yarn.
Body of the shawl : Sortfun shade 2426 (crème) : 3 skeins
Edging of the shawl : Sortfun denim : 1 skein shade 503 (fuchsia), 1 skein shade 500 (turquoise), 1 skein shade 504 (rose) and 0,5 skein shade 501 (dark jeans blue).
You need 900 m of yarn for the entire shawl.

– Crochet hook : 4 mm

– Used stitches : magic ring, chain (ch), slipstitch (slst), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), work 2 double crochet together (2dctog), cluster (CL), picot (p), stitch marker (M). I use US crochet terms.
– Cluster : 2dctog + 1ch + 2dctog + 1ch + 2dctog
– picot : work 3ch, followed by 1sc in first out of 3ch.

– Gauge : not crucial.

– You also need : scissors, tapestry needle to weave in ends, ruler, mat and pins for blocking, stitch marker

– Crochet charts : 2 charts are added at the end of the pattern : 1 for the body of the shawl and 1 for the edging. (printing -tip for the charts : change you printer settings to landscape, before printing the charts, your charts will be bigger and clearer).
