Crochet pattern for a lovely triangular shawl. The body is worked in a special clam-stitch. (Almejas is the Spanish word for clams).
The shawl is worked topdown, increases are made both in the center and at the sides.
The size of this shawl is very easy adjustable.
While the body is worked in sockweight yarn, the edging is done in laceweight yarn, to achieve a lovely contrast : different stitches are used, different yarn weight and different colours. This gives the body a reather strong and powerfull character, while the edging is very delicate and tender.
Fully written pattern in US terms.
2 charts are added as well.
Yarn : sockweight yarn, 4ply for the body of the shawl and lace-weight yarn for the edging. (I used Malabrigo Sock, 1 skein = 100 gram = 400 m for the body and Malabrigo Silkpaca, 1 skein = 50 gr = 400 m for the edging)
Crochet hoook : 3,5 mm and 3 mm (or 4 mm and 3,5 mm)
Skill level : intermediate
Many thanks to Inside Crochet for the lovely pictures.
